ARES HUMAN RIGHTS INTERNATIONAL
“A World Free From Harm”
OUR ETHOS
We believe that true equality comes only when citizens are aware of their rights and obligations of their governments and then demand the protection of those rights and hold their governments responsible.
Rights and Remedies
It is a general and indisputable rule that where there is a legal right, there must also be a legal remedy by suit or action at law whenever that right is violated.
Causes
Child Labour
Worldwide 218 million children between 5 and 17 years are in employment. Among them, 152 million are victims of child labour; almost half of them, 73 million, work in hazardous child labour.
Forced Labour
Forced Labour is defined as:
“all work or service which is exacted from any person under the threat of a penalty and for which the person has not offered himself or herself voluntarily.”
Human Trafficking
Human trafficking is the trade of humans for the purpose of forced labour, sexual slavery, or commercial sexual exploitation. It is thought to be one of the fastest-growing activities of trans-national criminal organizations and is condemned as a violation of human rights by international conventions.
Police and Human Rights
The mandate for the police is:
To protect human rights, defend fundamental freedoms outlined in the constitution, to maintain public order and ensure the general welfare of society through policies and practices that are humane and disciplined and equitable.
Statelessness
A “stateless person” is someone who is not considered as a national by any state under the operation of its law (article 1 of the 1954 Convention relating to the Status of Stateless Persons). Here, nationality refers to the legal bond between a person and a state.
Violence Against Women
The Declaration on the Elimination of Violence Against Women defines “violence against women” as “any act of gender-based violence that results in, or is likely to result in, physical, sexual or psychological harm or suffering to women, including threats of such acts, coercion or arbitrary deprivation of liberty, whether occurring in public or private life.”
